<p>Steve Tompkins became a corporate volunteer supporting the Copper Basin High School Media Center and Learning Center and in 2006  was offered and accepted the position of technology teacher at <a href="http://copperbasinhighschool.com" target="_blank">Copper Basin High School</a>. He built and maintains three computer labs and the media center computer lab, maintain the Elementary, Middle and High School’s IT infrastructure and designed and built various multimedia presentation systems.</p>
<p>Tompkins has sponsored, developed and teaches a Journalism and Broadcasting course and built its in-school television studio and music recording studio. His class, in a cooperative effort with Dr. Monticello’s Drama Class, broadcasts a daily live news program which is then uploaded to <a href="http://www.schooltube.com" target="_blank">www.schooltube.com</a> along with other specialty programming.  In addition he developed an internship program with Danny Hensley at a regional cable television company <a href="http://etctv3.com" target="_blank">ETC3 </a>which provides three paid internship positions for CBTV Studio student members at the <a href="http://etctv3.com" target="_blank">ETC3 television studios</a>.</p>
<p>Tompkins also sponsors the <a href="http://copperbasinhighschool.com/clubs.html" target="_blank">CBTV Studio Club</a> and the <a href="http://tsa.org" target="_blank">TSA Club</a> and fully supports the Copper Basin Learning Center under the leadership of Mrs. Angie Cook and sponsorship of <a href="http://www.oxy.com/Social_Responsibility/Pages/mmo_glenn_springs.aspx" target="_blank">Glenn Springs Holdings</a>.</p>
<h3>2001-Present</h3>
<p>Along with his wife Rebecca,  Tompkins became the owner operator of Tompkins Digital Studios. As videographers, they provide pre and post event, personal and corporate video services. As a recording engineer he operates a music recording studio and as a photographer provides photographic services and photo restoration services. As an A/V specialist he provides media conversion services. As Applications Analysts the pair provides IT and A/V consultative services.</p>
<h3>1979 – 2001</h3>
<p>Steve Tompkins worked at  <a href="http://intermec.com" target="_blank">Intermec</a> as its Senior Applications Analyst designing, installing and supporting multi-million dollar wired and wireless barcode data collection and asset tracking systems both domestically and internationally.  He also designed, built and operated its first video recording studio producing sales, engineering, service and customer training video programming.</p>
<h3>1972 – 1979</h3>
<p>Tompkins  invested seven years with the US Army, SP5 (SGT) as an Electronics Communications Specialist working with AM, FM, UHF and Microwave Radio Communications and Teletype systems. He specialized in long distance LOS Microwave Radio providing telephone, telegraph, television and broadcast radio communications service. Tompkins maintained Walter Reed Medical Hospital’s burgeoning computer systems and wireless communications systems. His duty stations were Ft. Leonard Wood MI; Ft. Gordon GA; Barton Barracks in Ansbach, Germany; Ft. Monmouth NJ; Ft. Clayton and Ft. Davis Panama Canal Zone and Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington DC.</p>
<h3>Personal</h3>
<p>Steve Tompkins is married to Rebecca Lynne (Jeffs) Tompkins and the father of two sons, Travis and Trevor and three daughters, Tara, Tawnya and Rachel.  He is a stepfather to one stepson Ben and fourstep daughters Chrissy, Jennifer, Danielle and Leslie.</p>
